I got one of the worst scares of my life! What would I do if my heart failed???

Hello Loves!

February is American Heart Month and I've been throwing some stats out from the American Heart Association, Mayo Clinic, the CDC, and a few others, all in an effort to help put the message out there about how important it is to check on our hearts... Imagine my surprise when I go to the doctor for my regular iron appointment and they find that my blood pressure is higher than normal!! Okay, well, I've been under some stress so... maybe that's it....WRONG! After my doctor questioned me, I began to remember a few times that I had some palpitations and had some near fainting spells. After telling my doctor about that, she sent me over to do a scan of my heart, just to be sure all was ok. Oh I just knew that I was A-OK and was going to be getting back home soon.... I was starving and so ready for lunch lol. But that wasn't the case.

Before I knew it, I was escorted over to the hospital for admission! Yes! My doctor had me admitted!!! Now, I was beginning to get a tad worried at that point. Not only was I being admitted into the hospial but stuff and people were moving around way too fast for me; I mean they were in a rush to get a closer look at the MASS that the scan picked up of my heart. My blood pressure was at its highest that its ever been and my nerves were all over the place. After scans, echos, ultrasounds, ekgs, we found out that it is a calcified nodule and that they are generally harmless... Whew!!! Oh how relieved I was to get that news!

During the entire process... admission. scans, teams of doctors, I began to think about all the unhealthy habits I've acquired over the years... lots and lots of sugar, fatty foods, processed foods, caffeine... basically anything that taste good, I'm in lol. My mind went into overdrive about that stuff and how bad it is for me. The heart is nothing to play around with. It's a myth that heart disease and heart dysfunctions only affect "older" people and that us young folk don't have to worry about it. Well, my friend, we do! Let's make a pact to get our hearts checked out every year! Just to make sure that we are healthy and that our hearts keep on ticking as it should. We got stuff to do! Thank God my doctor asked me those questions and my body threw a few warning shots... Now, I'm not just throwing info about there, I'm actually taking heed... :)

Yesssss!!!
